C’est Moi

Who am I? Not 24601, that’s a completely different dude.

I am a maker of things, an aspiring writer, a military veteran and a military wife, a dog wrangler and a child raiser. I’m pretty darn good at juggling interests.

Eleanor, 2 months old, at knitting night.

I am obsessed with the creation and use of lace in clothing. Which is funny because I never wore lace as a kid, because it was itchy. Of course, now I can choose non-scratchy not polyester lace. I am a fiber snob like that.

I am a process crafter, not a product crafter. I like to learn lessons and overcome challenges with my work. Producing the same item over and over again without learning anything new is tedious, but sometimes necessary work.

I am learning to focus on details, and on properly doing the finishing steps that make a creation look like a million bucks. Or a million does, I’m not picky about the gender of my deer.

My ambition is to create a complete outfit – from the skin out – that has been created entirely by me. I want to spin the yarn, weave the fiber, draft the pattern, knit, crochet, sew, embroider and embellish every detail of a complete outfit.

I love math and science and often apply those interests to my creating. I want my processes to have repeatable results! So I am always interested in knowing how things worked for other people.

I hope that this blog will record my efforts, allow you to learn the skills I’m learning, and allow you to share what you’ve made with me. Peer review is an important part of the scientific process, yo.

So let me know what you’re making, and what you’re learning from it!
